Vassiliki Poula

Vasiliki Poula works at the intersection of law and policy to improve the regulatory frameworks governing living environments and to bolster accountability over place-making.

She currently pursues her DPhil in International Development at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on the material infrastructure that UN peacekeeping missions deploy in post-conflict regions, the decision-making mechanisms shaping it and the impact it bears on local  political, economic and ecological ecosystems.

Her interest in spatial dynamics began during her tenure as head of policy in the Cabinet of the  Greek Minister of Education, where she witnessed how educational infrastructure transforms educational outcomes. Her subsequent policy experience beyond the national level, at the supranational (European Commission), and intergovernmental (OECD) level, as well as the non-profit sector, instilled in her the significance of spatial considerations for effective policymaking.

Vasiliki holds a Bachelor and Master of Laws from the London School of Economics.

She has a special interest for sustainable spatial development in her home region and regularly contributes to initiatives addressing overtourism and inadequate urban planning in Greece, Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.
